Hamlin April 18 2018

Hamlin is the centerpiece of Horizon West, one of the fastest growing mixed-use master-planned communities in the United States. In the "new suburbanism" style that is uniquely Horizon West, this sixth village will be larger than the other village centers and act as the "town center" for the area.

The Lake Hancock waterfront area of Hamlin is currently under construction, designed to be highly walkable and integrated into the surrounding neighborhoods via a network of trails and parks along picturesque Lake Hancock. New offerings will be announced here as they are confirmed for this area that will include up to 400,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, entertainment and hotels anchored by a Cinepolis luxury theatre.

Once the entirety of the "town center" is complete, Hamlin will have nearly 2 million square feet of retail, restaurants, entertainment uses, hotels, medical facilities, and office space, as well as several thousand single-family and multifamily residences.

Thanks to Community Contributor and Lakeside Village Resident, Jerry Jones, for the footage of our emerging town center.

NEWLY ANNOUNCED

  • Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine

Lovers of Turkish and Middle Eastern Cuisine will be excited about the expansion of Bosphorous to the Hamlin Town Center near the end of 2018. Bosphorous has won the Orlando Sentinel Foodie Award for best Middle Eastern food at its Winter Park location that opened in 2006 and is known for its authentic kebaps, humus and lamb dishes.

  • Yeoman's Cask & Lion, a British-style restaurant and pub

Yeoman's Cask & Lion, a British-style restaurant and pub is coming to the Hamlin Town Center!

Developers of Hamlin, Boyd Development, are being quite discerning and thoughtful about the offerings that will be in the Lake District along Lake Hancock and the addition of this British-themed pub is no different. This thoughtfulness, while making development feel slow to some new comers to the Horizon West area, will make for a successful town center with longevity and appeal to all the locals.

At Yoeman’s, the 5,000-square-foot, highly detailed interior will feel like stepping onto the streets in England with brick and wood textural elements, bold blue and red colors, and two Royal Guard mannequins at the entrance. The pub will be adorned with the Union Jack, the national flag of the United Kingdom and will offer traditional British pub menu items, like bangers and mash, fish and chips and Shepherd’s pie along with some all-American favorites like Philly cheese steak, a variety of mac and cheese dishes and healthy salads.

The pub experience wouldn’t be complete without an abundant drink selection at its two full liquor bars, one inside the restaurant and another on the 3,500-square-foot patio. Both bars will also feature craft beers and cask ales, and Yeoman’s will bring entertainment to Hamlin with live music each week.

  • Capone’s Coal Fired Pizza

Capone’s Coal Fired Pizza, a restaurant inspired by the story of notorious gangster Al Capone, plans to open it’s second Florida location later this year the Hamlin Town Center of Horizon West. The Prohibition era-themed restaurant will be authentic to the type of establishment Al Capone might have frequented, with warm wood and iron accents, exposed brick coal-fired ovens, Tiffany glass chandeliers, a speakeasy-style bar and photographs of the infamous mobster.

The creative minds behind the restaurant took what was a potential construction problem and made it into a positive. The former elevator shaft now acts as a model of Al Capone’s mysterious vault in the floor of the restaurant with an engraved plaque explaining the story. This feature has proven to be so popular that it will be reproduced in the 6,000-square-foot Hamlin location.

To keep the authentic theme of the restaurant, a photographer was hired to travel to Alcatraz, where Capone was imprisoned, to capture the essence of his jail cell, which ultimately inspired the look of the restaurant's bathrooms.

Capone’s is known for its 800-degree coal-fired ovens and “pizza so good it should be illegal.” Staying true to the Italian-American mobster’s legacy, other menu items include homemade pastas, coal-fired sandwiches and custom calzones.
