Businesses on the Horizon: What’s Coming to Horizon West

Horizon West continues to grow at an incredible pace, and residents have plenty to look forward to as new restaurants, cafés, fitness spaces, and community amenities take shape. Some of these projects are already under construction while others are in earlier planning stages. Here’s a look at everything currently on the horizon.

Filigree Coffee

Filigree Coffee is opening a new location at 16016 New Independence Parkway, Suite 110, next to Home State Brewing. The shop will offer expanded seating, a refreshed design, new menu items from Buttermilk Bakery, and original artwork by Bob’s Burgers illustrator Jay Howell. For information on when they plan to open the new space, make sure to follow them on social media.

McDonald’s

The new McDonald’s in Waterleigh Village has entered the site prep stage, a strong sign that the restaurant is moving closer to opening. It will be in a plaza along Avalon Road near Publix, listed at 5426 Hamlin Groves Trail.

Sonic Drive-In

Sonic is coming to Flamingo Crossings at 13372 Hartzog Road in Horizon West. Construction has started and the project is moving through the permitting process. An exact opening date has not been announced.

Dutch Bros Coffee

Dutch Bros has a planned location at 5215 Hamlin Groves Trail. Construction is expected to begin in October with an estimated completion around May. The shop will serve their usual lineup of coffee, matcha, energy drinks, and seasonal beverages.

Sushi Kindai

Sushi Kindai will be located in the new Shoppes at Lakeview at the corner of Seidel Road and Murcott Blossom Boulevard in Village F. The restaurant will offer sushi, sashimi, creative rolls, hibachi-style bento boxes, and a full bar with sake, cocktails, and soju. The concept is designed to bring a memorable, elevated sushi experience to Horizon West, with a projected opening in spring 2026.

Tropical Smoothie Café

Tropical Smoothie Café is listed among the upcoming tenants planned for the Hamlin area. More details like the exact address and opening timeline are expected soon.

Marco’s Pizza

Marco’s Pizza is announced as a committed tenant in the Shoppes at Lakeview Pointe (the same plaza as Sushi Kindai), though a firm opening date hasn’t been shared yet.

Life Time Athletic

Life Time, the upscale “athletic country club” brand, is planning a major 80,000 sq ft facility in Hamlin West, Horizon West. The proposed site is at the intersection of New Independence Parkway and State Road 429.

The facility is expected to feature indoor and outdoor pools, including a leisure pool and a lap pool, sports courts, and resort-style wellness amenities. Life Time is actively exploring opportunities in the Horizon West area, though timing and final approvals are still in process.

This project will bring a full-service fitness and wellness experience to the community, complementing other upcoming dining, retail, and recreational developments in the area.

Lowe’s

A Lowe’s home improvement store is planned just north of the Walmart on Hamlin Groves Trail. Early site information has appeared in local development updates and community posts.

Horizon West Regional Park

Work continues on the long-awaited Horizon West Regional Park. Phase 1A includes playgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms, and a large event pavilion. This park will become a central space for outdoor recreation and community gatherings.

Orange County Library – Horizon West Branch

The Horizon West branch of the Orange County Library System is under construction next to the regional park. The 20,000-square-foot facility will include study rooms, a media lab, meeting rooms, and an outdoor performance stage with open lawn seating. The library is expected to open in early 2026.

TJ Maxx

A new TJ Maxx is under construction in the Hamlin area of Horizon West. The off-price retailer will occupy a 25,000-square-foot retail pad just south of Publix on Hamlin Groves Trail, next to Urban Air. While no opening date has been announced, construction has begun, signaling that the store will be opening soon.

Why This Growth Matters

Horizon West has quickly become one of Central Florida’s most in-demand communities. The continued arrival of dining, retail, fitness, and cultural spaces gives residents more convenience and more reasons to stay local for their everyday needs. The combination of the new library and regional park also creates a true community anchor where families can connect, learn, and enjoy outdoor experiences.
