Horizon West Theater Company To Put On Production of Rent

Inspiration comes in many forms, sometimes in unexpected ways or places. Horizon West Theater Company is no stranger to bringing these artistic moments to our community and now in their 5th year of productions, they are bringing Jonathan Larson’s “Rent” to the stage as part of their Sapphire Season.

Originally produced off-Broadway in 1996, this evocative show, with mature themes, explores the meaning of life, loving who you love, and the trials faced by so many throughout the HIV/AIDS crisis. The story is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera “La boheme,” centering around struggling artists working to survive in the East Village in the lower part of Manhattan. Almost 30 years later, this work still resonates with audiences across the world and speaks to similar tribulations that marginalized communities face today.

The cast features local performers from around the Horizon West and greater Orlando area who have travelled to bring this show to life for their community. They endeavor to show the humor, passion, and true grit of this incredible work of art. Their hard work and dedication shines through in their performances and this is surely a show you won’t want to miss!

Supporting local art is an integral part of enriching the community we all love. Horizon West Theater Company productions and performances have been infusing art into our local scene for years, all with the incredible support of our community. It is often said when words fail, music speaks; we hope you listen. Tickets are on sale now for Friday, October 13th at 7pm, Saturday October 14th at 7pm, and Sunday October 15th at 4pm.
