Bringing Cincinnati to Horizon West: Daniel’s Skyline Chili Journey!

Since moving to Central Florida in 2017 to work for Disney, Daniel Hunsucker has embraced the local community and made Horizon West his home. As the proud owner of Skyline Chili at FLAMINGO CROSSINGS (located at 2231 Western Way #B, Winter Garden, FL 34787), Daniel blends his background in Disney Food and Beverage with his love for Skyline Chili, a staple from his childhood.

Growing up in Cincinnati, Daniel enjoyed Skyline Chili five days a week, fostering a lifelong passion for the brand. Daniel recalls fond memories of good food and excellent service, where staff and managers knew him well. He appreciates the open kitchen concept, allowing employees to interact and form friendships, emphasizing the importance of the “people part” of the business.

Years later, after gaining valuable experience through his career with Disney, Daniel decided to pursue his dream of becoming a business owner. Partnering with his father, Wendell Hunsucker, was a natural choice. Wendell, a successful entrepreneur, brings legitimacy and mentorship to the business. Together, they are committed to providing the local community with an authentic Skyline Chili experience. Their decision to open a Skyline Chili location in Horizon West was driven by its proximity to Disney and SR 429, his Waterleigh home, and the strong community support.

Daniel brings Skyline 8in community events, including Horizon West Happening’s Flavor Fest, Orlando Solar Bears Food Festival, and the West Orange Chamber’s Best Fest. He has also donated to local school events and the Disney College Program. His involvement has solidified his reputation within the HW community, with countless customers walking into the restaurant asking, ‘Is Daniel around today?’.

The restaurant has seen a constant flow of business, with fans frequently visiting from all over Central Florida for their favorite chili. Daniel describes Skyline Chili as a unique Greek-style chili, made from family recipes from the original founder – the Lambrinides family – that has earned a loyal following. Unlike Texas-style chili, Skyline Chili features a distinct blend of spices. It’s a “must-try” with a flavor profile you won’t find anywhere else!

Daniel’s emphasis on community interaction through food is admirable. Supporting local businesses not only helps the community grow economically, but it also fosters a sense of togetherness and local pride. By recognizing the significance of these relationships, we can create stronger, more resilient communities. It’s wonderful to see individuals like Daniel building relationships between businesses and the residents who they serve.

Daniel, his supportive wife, and their four-month-old baby are a testament to the importance of family in his life, humorously mentioning the challenges of finding time amidst sleepless nights with a newborn. For aspiring entrepreneurs, he advises maintaining a positive attitude and getting involved with the community.

To meet Daniel and experience Skyline Chili, stop by the store or call him on his cell phone at (513) 476-0824. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a first-timer, Daniel and his team are ready to welcome you with open arms and a Cheese Coney.
