The holiday season is here, and Horizon West is full of festive events to help you celebrate with family and friends. Whether you’re looking for religious services, seasonal performances, or volunteer opportunities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Here are some local holiday-themed events you won’t want to miss.

Christian Christmas Services 

Village Point Christmas Eve Eve Service  On December 23rd at 6:00 PM, join the community at Hamlin Middle School for a special Christmas Eve Eve Candlelight Gathering hosted by Village Point Church. This service offers a peaceful and reflective way to start  the holiday celebrations. 

Holy Family Catholic Church  If you’re looking for a traditional Catholic Christmas Mass, Holy Family Catholic Church offers two Vigil Masses on December 24th: one from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and another from 10:00 PM to 11:00 PM. These services celebrate the Nativity of the Lord in a welcoming, joyful setting. 

Horizon West Church  You are invited to celebrate Christmas in person or online on December 24th at 2:30 PM or 4:00 PM, at Horizon High School. This event is a wonderful option for those in the community who want to enjoy a lively, heartfelt service. 

Citrus Church  Citrus Church, a United Methodist Church, will be hosting a special Christmas Eve service on Tuesday, December 24th at 4:30 PM at Keene’s Crossing Elementary School. This service will include carol singing, a retelling of the Christmas story, the cherished tradition of lighting candles in the darkness, and a celebration of the birth of Christ, who continues to bring light to the world. It’s a meaningful way to come together with others in the community to celebrate the true spirit of the season.  

Hanukkah Celebrations 

Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation (SOJC)
The SOJC is hosting a free Community Hanukkah Dinner on December 29th at 5:00 PM, complete with singing, a silent auction, and candle lighting. Hanukkah is observed from December 25th to January 2nd, and each evening features the lighting of the menorah. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate with others in the community. 

Seasonal Performances 

The Nutcracker Ballet 
Experience the magic of the holiday season with the Orlando Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker, showing at the Dr. Phillips Center in downtown Orlando on select dates until December 22nd. This beloved production tells the enchanting story of Clara and her journey with the Nutcracker, filled with captivating dance and stunning set designs.

Christmas Tree Stroll 

Another festive activity to enjoy this season is the Christmas Tree Stroll at Disney Springs, happening through December 30, 2024. This holiday tradition invites you to explore Disney Springs and discover beautifully decorated Christmas trees scattered throughout the area. Pick up a complimentary map at a participating store, then match each tree with a sticker on your map as you find them. Once you’ve located all the trees, bring your completed map to a designated location for a special surprise! It’s a fun and interactive way to enjoy the holiday decorations with family and friends. 

Volunteer Opportunities 

The holiday season is also a time to give back to those in need. Many local organizations are looking for volunteers to help with events, food drives, and community outreach. Whether you’re helping serve meals, organizing donation drives, or offering support to your neighbors, volunteering is a meaningful way to spread holiday cheer.  Two community favorites to consider are Matthew’s Hope and Eight Waves.
