Horizon West is getting a brand-new place to learn, create, connect and spend time together.
The new Horizon West Branch of the Orange County Library System officially opens its doors on Saturday, October 10, 2026, bringing 20,000 square feet of library space, technology, creative resources, outdoor experiences and community programming to Horizon West.
Located at 4657 Hamlin Groves Trail, Winter Garden, FL 34787, adjacent to Horizon West Regional Park, the new branch was designed to be much more than a place to check out books.
The grand opening celebration begins with a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., followed by a full day of activities, events and entertainment for all ages.
A Library Designed for the Way Horizon West Lives
The new Horizon West Branch was designed to serve as a true community resource, with spaces for everything from studying and working to creating videos, attending classes and bringing the kids for storytime.
Inside, visitors will find two free study rooms and three meeting rooms available for public reservation, giving students, remote workers, local groups and community organizations new spaces to gather.
One of the most exciting additions is the free Media Lab, complete with a green screen, lighting, and recording and editing software for audio, video and photography projects. Whether you’re working on a school assignment, creating content or experimenting with a new creative skill, the lab brings even more resources right here to the Horizon West community.
The branch also includes two training rooms that will be used for technology classes, fiber arts, STEM programs and other educational opportunities.
The Library Experience Heads Outdoors
Some of the most unique features of the Horizon West Branch are actually outside.
The library includes dedicated outdoor spaces for programming and community use, including a permanent StoryWalk®, where families can take a stroll while enjoying successive pages from a children’s story displayed along the walking path.
Visitors will also find interactive outdoor musical instruments, a Florida-friendly garden and a performance and play area behind the building featuring a shade structure and astroturf for casual seating, performances and play.
The permanent StoryWalk will feature a new book each month, giving families another reason to return and experience something new.

Here’s another reason Horizon West residents should be excited: the library’s classes and events calendar is already filling up.
The Orange County Library System website now allows you to browse upcoming programming specifically for the Horizon West Branch, and there’s something for just about every age and interest.
Adults can look for technology and productivity classes, with the library system offering programming covering tools and skills such as Microsoft Excel, Canva, basic technology, graphic design and more.
Families with little ones will have plenty to explore too. Programming includes baby and toddler activities, early-learning opportunities and storytimes, giving parents and caregivers another local option for getting out of the house and connecting with other families.
For older kids, the library’s programming expands into areas like technology, coding and robotics, STEM, arts and crafts, LEGO activities, games and other hands-on learning experiences.
The branch will also offer opportunities for language learning, fiber arts, workshops and community events, meaning the library can become just as useful for adults looking to learn a new skill as it is for families looking for something fun to do with the kids.

For a growing community like Horizon West, the opening represents something bigger than a new building.
