Future Fire Stations Planned for Horizon West

New Stations Planned and Budgeted for Horizon West

As Horizon West grows by leaps and bounds, Orange County Fire Rescue is growing right alongside it. Three new fire stations are planned for Horizon West.

Fire Station 44 – Village of Bridgewater

Just two years ago, in April 2019, a temporary station began operations from the campus of the Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital on Porter Road. Named Fire Station 44, this location opened ahead of its original schedule in a temporary format because the area was underserved and response times were slower than County standards.

Groundbreaking is expected by June of 2022 for Station 44’s permanent location at Reams Road and Summerlake Park Boulevard. The build process will take 12-14 months, so it is expected to be open and operational July or August 2023.

Once Fire Station 44 is open, temporary Fire Station 44 is not shutting down, but instead will be renamed to temporary Fire Station 48. The units assigned there will then serve the area planned for future Fire Station 48.

Fire Station 48 – Town Center

Planned for potential opening in late 2023 to mid 2024, Fire Station 48 will be located in the Silverleaf area of Horizon West Town Center at Avalon and Lake Ingram Road. As shown below, this station will be in close proximity to Orange County Public Schools’ new elementary and middle school site.

Fire Station 32 – Ovation

To continue to serve Horizon West’s southern villages, Orange County Fire Rescue is working to relocate Fire Station 32, which currently operates from East Orange Lake Boulevard in Kissimmee.  The new, permanent station will be located on a property in Ovation (Village I) on the north side of the Hartzog Road re-alignment, as shown below.

The County is currently finalizing the land acquisition with the property owner. The transaction will advance once the developer completes the roadway infrastructure improvements to the north of the site. The infrastructure is required to provide utility access to the site. OCFR is seeking to have this station operational by 2023-2024.

Existing Fire Stations

Other current Horizon West fire stations include: Fire Station 34 at 4000 S. State Road 535, just north of the Village of Bridgewater and Fire Station 35 7435 Winter Garden Vineland Road in Lakeside Village.
