Neighborhood Centers Help Bring Horizon West’s Walkability Vision to Life
1 October, 2018
Central Parc at Bridgewater Crossing will provide Summerport residents with an array of shops and services all within walking distance
Over the last few months, we have been watching Central Parc take form as the newest addition to The Village of Bridgewater. Once complete, this unique commercial space will serve as a neighborhood center for residents in the Summerport area, allowing them to walk or bike over for pizza and ice cream and even a weeknight mani/pedi.
Commercial developers, Miguel de Arcos and Dominic Nori of Central Parc Development have dedicated themselves to creating a gathering place that reflects the “Garden City” values of Horizon West. The idea of a commercial neighborhood center near most of the elementary schools within Horizon West is a concept land planners included in the master plan to encourage communities to gather even more than they already naturally do at the public schools. This enables a lifestyle for those living nearby to interact and engage in everyday services in a location convenient to home without having to spend time fighting traffic, commuting or adding to the environmental tax of driving automobiles. The emphasis on family and community offerings in Central Parc is part of what makes it special! A beautiful courtyard with a tree-lined view sits directly adjacent to Central Parc encouraging customers to relax and mingle.
Located within Central Parc will be an array of shops and services for residents to enjoy. The first of seven tenants, Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic, is officially open as of today October 1st, with 4 tenants still in the construction phase and two soon to be announced. Offerings from pizza to veterinary care will be available come the official Grand Opening currently scheduled for early November.
Embracing the Walkability Vision
Several residents have inquired about the parking so we extended this question to Central Parc Development. They were quick to respond with encouraging information that will help clarify what residents can expect. Parking in the lots will be strictly for business use only. This decision was made with the utmost safety in mind, considering that the neighborhood center shares travel space with Keene’s Crossing Elementary. KCE students and parents are kindly asked to utilize sidewalks and parallel parking for pick up and drop off.
Orange County limited the number of parking spaces around the center preserving the walkability concept in the Horizon West master plan. Residents are encouraged to walk or bike to Central Parc, much as they would when taking an evening stroll to the local park or an afternoon exploring the neighborhood. Central Parc Development is thankful for the support they have received from Summerport in this new space as the community grows and adjusts to the changes of a centrally located commercial center.
Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic is Officially Open to Our Furry Pals
We got a chance to chat with some of the commercial tenants to gain some insight into their vision and why they chose Central Parc. The first tenant we met was Dr. Angela Chesanek, owner of Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic . Born and raised in Florida with a degree in Animal Science from the University of Florida (go Gators, she says!), Dr. Chesanek has been working in Windermere/Orlando since 2005. She is so excited to be able to offer veterinary services to the Horizon West community. A true animal lover, her goal is to provide relaxing care to your furry family members in a state of the art environment. She, her husband, Shawn, and their two daughters are regulars at local food truck events and love to spend time with their dogs, Mr. Noodle and Stella. We are excited to welcome Chain of Lakes Animal Clinic to Horizon West.
Scoops ‘N’ Smiles is Eager to Begin Serving Up Delicious Treats
Our team also had the opportunity to spend some time chatting with the owners of the much-anticipated ice cream shop. Named Scoops ‘N’ Smiles, a name voted on by residents of Summerport, the shop will feature Hershey’s brand ice cream with offerings of shakes, candy, chocolate, pies, cookies, coffee, fountain soda and juices. They will also offer certain selections of candy and chocolate by the pound! Both longtime residents of Horizon West, this is the owners’ first ice cream shop but with over a decade of business experience, the team is eager to open their doors and get to know everyone in the community. We can’t wait to visit Scoops ‘N’ Smiles!
Still to Come
The remaining confirmed shops and services include Horizon West Dental, Win Win Nail Salon & Spa and Marco’s Pizza with two more tenants being announced soon. We look forward to chatting with them as the Grand Opening gets closer and giving them a warm welcome to the community.
