Here’s how it works! Submit your healthy selfie between 9/1 and 9/17, then come back and vote for your favorite from 9/18 to 9/21. Then, on Thursday, September 24, we’ll announce our three winners. Got questions? We’ve got answers!
What’s a Healthy Selfie?
So what makes a selfie a healthy selfie? We’re pretty flexible. Cooking with your kids, walking your dog, swimming, hiking, gardening, biking, yoga, sports… Heck, even mowing the yard works! And what about mental wellbeing? Quality time with friends and family, meditation, learning a new skill… those can be used for healthy selfies too. It doesn’t have to be taken in “selfie mode”, it can be taken with any camera, but it does have to be a photo with yourself/your friends and family in it.
What’s not a healthy selfie? You could probably figure that out yourself, but a couple of examples are: chowing down on a cheeseburger; binge watching on the couch; just looking at the camera with a cute filter. None of these are healthy selfies.
How do I submit my selfie?
You can email it to [email protected] or post it on Facebook, Twitter/X, or Instagram using #healthyselfie and @healthywestorange. If you post it on social media, be sure the post is public and to tag Healthy West Orange so we can see it.
What’s the deadline?
Your entry must be received before 12:00 pm (noon) on Thursday, September 17.
Is there a limit?
We encourage you to take as many healthy selfies as you want, but for the contest it’s three selfies per individual. So, pick your best!
How will my selfie be used?
When you submit a selfie, you’re agreeing to let us use it for marketing purposes. For instance, you might see your selfie in the Windermere Observer, West Orange Times, on our social media channels, or the local YMCAs. The winners will be featured on the orangeobserver.com website, Healthy West Orange website, and more places around town.
How are you judging the selfies?
First, we’re looking for fun, healthy images. Second, we’re looking for creativity. But remember, while we choose the finalists, YOU choose the winners of the Grand Prize Pack! The Family Fun category photo will be chosen by our guest judges, our friends at YMCA of Central Florida, and win a one-year Family Membership to the YMCA, worth over $1,000!
When is the winner announced?
The winners will be announced on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
How do I pick up my prize?
We’ll notify you through social media or email if you’re the winner. Coordinate with us for pick-up of your prize.
