Giving Women Permission to Be Themselves
Meet the Misses Behind The Mic
“Boss Babes Humorously Exploring the Woman Experience- In all off its ineffableness.”
Three women from different walks of life tackling the topics that nobody is talking about, all with a healthy sense of humor. The Misses include Dr. Shweta Patel, Ashley Rogers, and Jessica Villegas. Each is an expert in her respective field. Dr. Patel is an OB/GYN and Founder of Gaya Wellness- a women’s virtual health startup, as well as a Navy Veteran. Ashley Rogers is the Co-Founder of Level Up Strength and Nutrition, as well as a certified nutrition coach with NASM and a certified Women’s Coaching Specialist+ through Girls Gone Strong. Jessica Villegas is a Success Coach and the Founder of Hi-Lite Coaching + Consulting- a program focused on teens and young adults in the places they live, work and are educated.
Body. Mind. Spirit.
“I don’t think there are many places where women can get total mental, physical, and spiritual advice all in one place.” – Ashley Rogers
MissLabeled is a space where issues are raised and validated; issues that women have almost universally experienced personally, or vicariously through other women. The trio believes that women are often gaslit into believing that experiences exist in a silo, when the reality couldn’t be further from the truth. Each episode of MissLabeled brings contemporary subjects to the table, encouraging listeners to explore the relevance to their own lives. These issues often present themselves as “false labels”- the things people tell us about ourselves that we begin to believe are truths. It’s what’s underneath the label that this trio hopes to uncover.
Why a Podcast?
“Podcasts feel like a return to old school radio and there is a certain freedom of speech that kicks in.” – Shweta Patel, MD
In the advent of a global pandemic, reaching people in new and innovative ways became essential. It forced us out of offices and onto screens. Since then, a hunger for connection has arisen and with it, an increased interest in podcasting. We turned first to social media, and quickly realized all the things that were left unsaid in short posts and snap shots. Podcasting is a way to reach people through long-form communication while still maintaining the new status-quo. The MissLabeled Podcast is able to deeply explore topics of interest that simply can’t be captured in a 30 second video post. It also allows the listener the opportunity to participate passively- something of great value to the busy woman of today’s society. You can listen while you are running errands, or going for a walk, sitting in the car line, or working at your desk. All you need are a pair of earbuds and an open mind.
Pouring From a Full Cup
“We are incredibly complex humans who have so much to offer our communities and corporations if we could simply do so without the condemnation.” – Jessica Villegas
Self-care isn’t selfish. MissLabeled provides you with a space to consider yourself. This philosophy is evident through each episode. The Misses want to help women claim back space in their own lives and they do that by inspiring the individual through shared experiences. A healthy dose of deep thinking sprinkled with striking candor is what makes MissLabeled so appealing to women from all walks of life. And the occasional male listener is not out of the question! A major tenet the trio share is that women are human beings first. A lot of what is shared is insightful for all genders to experience, so that the complexities of womanhood are better understood, better supported, and better shared.
MissLabeled is a refreshing alternative to an already overwhelming market of women’s health and wellness options. It cuts through the noise and delivers content you meant to find in the first place. You will find yourself laughing alongside the Misses, nodding your head in agreement, and sometimes shouting “Me too!” when a topic hits particularly close to home. You will leave feeling like you’ve met your three best friends for brunch and shared the stories that get you through another crazy week.
“We hope that this podcast reaches and brings value to all women. No matter your walk of life or affiliation, these topics address the complexities nearly all women face.” – The Misses
