New Roundabout Approved for Seidel Road & Summerlake Park Blvd

Lindsay Turner Avatar

Big changes are coming to one of Horizon West’s busiest intersections.

Orange County has officially approved a $1.47 million construction project to build a new roundabout at Seidel Road and Summerlake Park Boulevard, a key corridor serving residents in Village F and surrounding neighborhoods heading into the Hamlin area.

This improvement is part of the County’s ongoing effort to keep up with the rapid growth across Horizon West, one of the fastest-growing master-planned communities in Central Florida.

What’s Coming

The project will replace the current intersection with a roundabout designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.

Plans include:

  • A two-lane westbound entrance
  • Single-lane entrances from the east and north
  • New and improved sidewalk connections for pedestrians
  • A stormwater drainage system to better handle Florida’s heavy rains

In addition to the roundabout itself, the project will include roadway paving, markings, and lighting improvements to support safer and more efficient travel.

Why It Matters

If you’ve driven this stretch lately, you already know traffic has been a pain point as development continues along the Seidel corridor.

Seidel Road serves as a major connector between neighborhoods and SR 429, making it a critical piece of Horizon West’s transportation network.

This project is designed to:

  • Improve traffic flow during peak hours
  • Reduce wait times compared to traditional signals
  • Increase safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists

It also aligns with broader transportation improvements happening across Horizon West aimed at easing congestion and enhancing connectivity as the community grows.

What to Expect

The project is expected to take several months to complete once construction begins. During that time, residents can anticipate:

  • Temporary lane shifts and delays
  • Active construction zones
  • Changes to traffic patterns

The Bigger Picture

This roundabout is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. From road widenings to new connections and multi-use paths, Orange County continues to invest in infrastructure to support Horizon West’s growth.

More growth is coming, and so are smarter solutions to keep our community moving.

Stay tuned. We’ll keep you updated as this project moves forward.
