Serving Those Who Serve: Meet Joe Casalese with Covered by Christ

What if the skills you use every day to make a living could also help a family who has spent their life serving others?

That’s the heart behind Covered By Christ, a nonprofit led by CEO Joe Casalese, that brings together local home service businesses, contractors and community supporters to help families in need with necessary home repairs—often at no cost to the family.

From roofing and plumbing to electrical and HVAC work, Covered By Christ connects people facing difficult circumstances with businesses willing to step in and help.

Serving Those Who Serve

Covered By Christ has a particular heart for first responders, veterans and public servants, people who have spent their lives serving and protecting their communities.

When a major home repair comes up, the cost can quickly become overwhelming. A damaged roof, broken HVAC system, plumbing emergency or electrical issue isn’t something most families can simply put off, but paying for those repairs isn’t always possible.

That’s where Joe and Covered By Christ come in.

The organization works to identify needs and then bring the right people to the table. Sometimes that means a contractor donating their time. Other times, a business may offer discounted labor or materials. And sometimes it takes several local businesses working together to make a project possible.

It’s a simple idea with a big impact: businesses using what they already know how to do to serve someone who needs a little help.

It Takes a Community

Joe is already building those relationships right here in the local community.

Covered By Christ collaborates with local businesses like Viewpoint Design, but Joe is always looking for more licensed contractors and home service companies who are willing to get involved.

That could mean donating labor, offering a discount on services or supplies, helping connect the organization with someone who can meet a specific need, or simply spreading the word about the work Covered By Christ is doing.

The more people who know about Covered By Christ, the more opportunities there are to connect a family in need with a business that can help.

More Than Donations

While volunteers and business partnerships are a huge part of making these projects happen, Covered By Christ also needs financial support.

Not every expense can be covered by donated labor or discounted materials. Joe is working to build funds that the organization can draw from when a project requires supplies, services or other costs that can’t be donated.

That means financial supporters aren’t simply giving toward one project, they’re helping create a resource that can be there when the next family needs help.

Covered By Christ’s website puts it simply: supporting Covered By Christ means supporting your community.

How Local Businesses Can Help

You don’t have to be a large company to make a difference.

If you’re a licensed contractor or own a home service business, there may be a way for your company to get involved. Roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and other skilled trades can all play a role in helping families get the repairs they need.

And if you aren’t a contractor, you can still help by donating, sharing the organization’s mission or introducing Joe to a business that might be willing to partner.

Meet Joe

Joe has a genuine enthusiasm for connecting people and finding ways to make things happen. Spend a little time talking with him and it’s easy to see that Covered By Christ isn’t just an organization to him it’s a way to bring people together around a common purpose.

He’s looking for more businesses to join the effort, more community members to spread the word and more supporters who believe that when we have the ability to help someone, we should.

Because a roof is more than shingles. An HVAC system is more than equipment. Plumbing and electrical work are more than trades. Sometimes, they’re the thing that helps a family stay safe, comfortable and home.
