Rotary Club of Horizon West Celebrates 5 Years!

As the Rotary Club of Horizon West marks the conclusion of its fifth year, the community celebrates a period of dedicated service, significant accomplishments, and inspiring growth. Since its founding in 2019, the club has raised over $70,000 to support both local and international initiatives, exemplifying a deep commitment to making a positive difference.

Leadership and Vision

Guided by a passionate leadership team, the club is led by President Louis Bridrogo, President Elect Tricia Embury, Secretary Terry Hatfield-Dull, and Treasurer Jeffery Ramos. Looking forward, the club aims to expand its community outreach, increase fundraising efforts, and foster new partnerships to maximize its impact over the next five years.

 

Community Outreach and Service Projects

Horizon West Happenings, a proud member of the Rotary community, celebrates the club’s active engagement in numerous projects:

  • Local Contributions: The club has provided financial support, donations, and volunteer efforts to organizations such as Matthews Hope—supporting food, clothing, and financial needs; Maxey Elementary—funding technology, toy drives, and mentoring programs; Keene’s Crossing Elementary—assisting with fifth-grade graduation celebrations and playground supplies; and Horizon West Cares—delivering Thanksgiving baskets.
  • Event Participation: Members participate in Miles to Go backpack packing events, support Legacy Events for Education Chili Cookoff and Beer Fest, and volunteer during Habitat for Humanity build days, including the Women’s Build.
  • Partnerships: The club collaborates with organizations like One Heart for Women and Children—supporting Halloween festivals; Eight Waves—organizing toilet paper, costume, and food drives; and Second Harvest Food Bank—contributing through food packing and donations.
  • International Efforts: Through the club’s Foundation funds, Rotary Club of Horizon West partners with Rotary International and AdventHealth Foundation on initiatives like the “Sharing Smiles Program.” Last year, the club supported surgeries for children with cleft lip in Peru and plans to continue assisting similar projects in Merida, Mexico.

The club is proud of its robust membership, embodying the spirit of service and community pride. Horizon West Happenings’s very own CEO Stephanie Lang is a founding member of the Horizon West Rotary chapter, exemplifying leadership and dedication to service.

The club aims to foster new partnerships, support additional projects, and continue inspiring members and the broader community. With the collective efforts of its members and supporters,  Rotary Club of Horizon West remains committed to its mission of “Service Above Self,” making a meaningful difference locally and globally.
