Twisted Plates and Community Ties: Chris and Natalie’s Journey in Horizon West

In the heart of Horizon West resides the dynamic duo, Chris and Natalie Leonas. A tale of two personalities–Chris, the creative force behind their ventures, found his culinary calling amidst Orlando’s theme parks, while Natalie, the strategic business mind, infused the energy of her Miami Cuban heritage into their shared journey. Their story began on the pavements of the food truck scene, where Chris, alongside his two best friends, crafted culinary delights with “Twisted Plates.” The business name is a testament to their creativity, constantly changing from Loaded Tostones to shrimp tacos, and even featuring specialties like a full roasted pig or a gator po-boy.

Eight years of courtship, two years of marriage, and a pandemic-induced pivot later, you’ll find the Leonas’ at the helm of not just one, but multiple ventures. As the world grappled with uncertainty, Natalie’s furlough from her job became the catalyst for doubling down on their food truck business. And in a moment of entrepreneurial insight, this January saw the birth of “Twisted Outdoor Events,” an extension of their “Twisted Plates” catering business, offering inflatable outdoor games like axe throw, soccer dart, and basketball.

But beyond the hustle and bustle of their businesses lies a deep-rooted love for Horizon West. “We have seen the community grow from the ground up, and we are excited to be a part of Horizon West,” added Natalie. “The community here is incredibly welcoming. It’s where we want to build our family and something for the community,” echoed Chris. Yet, every success story comes with its fair share of challenges. From navigating the rough seas of business infancy to striking the delicate balance between work and home, the Leonas’ journey is a testament to resilience and perseverance. Their advice rings true for budding entrepreneurs.

“When starting your own business, make sure it is something you are truly passionate about,” said Natalie. “There will be challenging days, but remember every stumble is a step towards growth.” Amidst the whirlwind of entrepreneurship, Chris and Natalie cherish the freedom and flexibility that comes with being their own bosses. Whether it’s blocking off calendar dates for a family vacation or dreaming up expansion plans for their catering empire, they understand that communication and connection are the cornerstones of their success.

As the Leonas’ continue to build their dreams, both personal and professional, their story serves as inspiration for those who dare to chase their passions and embrace the philosophy that Horizon West is where community comes together!
