If you regularly travel along Ficquette Road, Reams Road, or Summerlake Park Boulevard, you may have noticed some changes to your daily commute.

Orange County Public Works has released its November 2026 construction update, outlining the latest progress on several major roadway improvement projects in Horizon West, including road widening, a new roundabout, utility relocations, and temporary traffic changes.

Here’s what residents need to know this month.

Ficquette Road & Reams Road: Traffic Pattern Changes Underway

Drivers traveling through the intersection of Ficquette Road, Reams Road, and Summerlake Park Boulevard should be prepared for a temporary change in traffic patterns.

To accommodate ongoing construction, the existing dedicated turn lane on Reams Road has been temporarily converted into a shared through-and-turn lane.

What this means for drivers:

  • Pay close attention to posted construction signs and lane markings.
  • Expect possible delays as motorists adjust to the new traffic configuration.
  • Use extra caution when approaching and traveling through the intersection.

These changes are part of the ongoing Ficquette Road widening and roundabout project.

Summerlake Park Boulevard & Seidel Road: Roundabout Preparations Continue

Work is also progressing on the future roundabout at Summerlake Park Boulevard and Seidel Road.

Throughout October, construction crews focused on relocating utilities to prepare the area for roundabout construction. While significant progress has been made, Orange County reports that several more weeks of utility relocation work remain.

Temporary Multi-Use Path Closures

Residents who walk, run, or bike along Summerlake Park Boulevard should be aware of intermittent path closures throughout November.

The affected section runs along Summerlake Park Boulevard between Porter Road and Key West Dove Street.

If you use this route regularly, be mindful of construction activity, watch for posted notices, and plan accordingly when temporary closures are in place.

What About Reams Road Widening?

Reams Road widening remains one of the three roadway improvement projects included in Orange County Public Works’ monthly construction updates.

While the November newsletter does not outline a separate new construction activity for the Reams Road widening project, residents can continue following its progress through the county’s monthly project newsletters.

What’s Next for Horizon West Road Improvements?

According to Orange County’s November 2026 construction schedule, the three projects have different anticipated timelines:

  • Ficquette Road Widening & Roundabout: Construction is currently scheduled through the second quarter of 2028.
  • Summerlake Park Boulevard & Seidel Road Roundabout: Construction is currently scheduled through the fourth quarter of 2027.
  • Reams Road Widening: Construction is currently scheduled through the first quarter of 2030.

These dates are approximate and subject to change.

As construction progresses, residents should continue to anticipate temporary traffic adjustments and stay informed about work that may affect their regular routes.
